Custom Alphabet Emoji Pack in partnership with Slack.
On 2020 I was commissioned by slack to create an emoji set with every letter of the alphabet for users to include in their daily conversations, and I’m so happy and excited to finally share this with you all! If you know me, you probably know I’m a big slack-user, so having the chance to collaborate with them was such a dream. The project was a bit of a challenge because we needed to have letterforms that would be legible at small sizes, but we also needed to add a bit of a twist, so the result was this thick, bold & friendly alphabet with a heavy shadow and outline to highlight the shapes. This emoji pack is now available on slack in 2 colors, and you can learn how to install them here.

The process for this project was particularly fun as I started out working with different brushes and inks to get an idea of how thick we could co before the countershapes were compromised. I then started testing some terminations we could add before jumping to the digitization part, where I treated this as if it were a typeface. That way, I could test different words and get an idea of how spacing would affect them.
Overall, I loved this project, and I’m really thankful for the freedom and trust the slack team gave me.
